Last night I and all my crew ate till we were approaching the state of the guy in Monty Python's Meaning of Life ("but, sir, just one leeeetle, thin mint wafer....") when a customer showed up with TWO large smoked ducks, a rotisserie chicken, homemade oyster dressing, green beans and whole berry cranberry sauce.

NOW, we are having a lunch including Port Braised Veal Cheeks, more green beans and cassoulet courtesy of an French importer who cooked it all himself.

I DO love the holidays after all

Heck-Fire there Robo-Baby, with the size of your counter you musta'had platters all over the front of the store. Sounds absotiveally scrumtous. We had our usual Bubbly with hand-dipped stromberries, some fish eggs, then at around 2:30 I made Eggs Houssard. Delicious. Use Brennans receipe I learned in 59. WW

Nah, Verne we have a big gift wrapping table in the back and it looked like Henry the Eighth's bathelor party!

All I ever get from customers is cake--I don't like cake; I'm moving to "shaker-land."

- Kcwhippet - 12-23-2003

Didn't get anything from the customers, but I did get a bottle of 1989 12 year old Rosebank single malt from the boss.

Wow, Roberto. Your clientele really came through for you. I offered the staff at my usual wine shop in Raleigh my eggplant spread with Triscuits or party rye bread only to find that at least two of them don't like eggplant. Oh, well.

we are all groaning around the hospital. Our patients are very generous. Both freezers are full of chocolate and cookies. One can never have too much chocolate...

I thot the saying was you can never be too thin nor too rich! WW

Sorry I did not post this earlier. This New Year's Staurn will be the closest to Earth since 1975. What makes it interesting is that it's rings will be tilted towards us. This will not happen again until 2034. You need about a 30x telescope to get a good view. At midnight it will be directly overhead with a yellowish tint in North America. Better than fireworks with the right kind of wine.
P.S.
I intended to send this as a new topic. I apologize for the confusion.

In my generation you got beat up at school if you took a typing class or voluntarily participated in spelling bees.

Today's Menu:

Seared Ahi Tortas (that's Azatlan-ese for sandwiches) with aioli mustard and French Greens

Soba Noodles with Enoki Mushrooms, shizu, rice vinegar and smoked Yellowtail in fish stock

DAMN!

I had told a customer who runs a charter fishing boat, "Hey bring us some fish some time..." just as a throwaway line. So, yesterday he shows up with over 20 pounds of premium tuna. We are swamped out of our minds and I have no time to deal with it and am afraid the fish will spoil. So, I mention it to a private chef customer of ours and he takes it home, whups half of it into lunch for six for me and the crew and takes the rest for his gig tonight.

I could get used to this...
