Would anybody be able to help me with a query I have about a bottle of wine I have.

It is a 1986 Burg Layer Schlosskapelle 1.5 litres.

I would like some general information about this wine, whether it is drinkable, what it's value might be etc.

Welcome to the WineBoard, Lawrence. The wine you have is made in Nahe, between the Rhine and the Mosel. The grapes used are Muller Thurgau (60%), Sylvaner (30%) and Riesling (10%). It's a light, fruity wine that generally is best drunk fairly young, probably within about three or four years from vintage, so I doubt your bottle is still viable. Current price is about US$16.50, which is about 9 GBP for the 1.5L, so I don't see any real value to the bottle. You can probably keep it around as a conversation piece, or chill it up, pop the cork and hope for the best.
