More of the ARC's dirty knickers at the national level are beginning to show. For a description of the problem with blood donations resulting from the WTC disaster, see http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A8969-2001Nov10.html

The organization, as I've ranted before, needs a wholesale clean-up. Like the government, the beauracracy has taken over and it's ug-u-lee. WW

An' all that time I thought Elizabeth Dole was runnin' a good outfit...what th'heck was she doin'? Or did it go in a hand-basket after she left?

CP, I think their problems are much deeper than even a fine lady like Mrs. Dole could fix. They have near-monopolies on some components of the nation's infrastructure - the blood supply, and casualty assistance, to name but two - and as a result, they have enormous leverage in Congress. Should they be dismanteled? Probably not. But IMHO they sure need an overhaul.

Gil, Fox News just got finishing ripping ARC to pieces this morning for waste, misuse, misdirection, and overall ineptness. Whew!

Sorry I missed it. I usually watch Fox News, but didn't take the time this morning. A check of their Web site didn't turn up the story, either. Nuts. But maybe, with the increased exposure the ARC is now receiving of their indemic problems, we'll begin to see some positive changes in their operations. Sure hope so.

In the interim, give to the Savation Army. WW

Yup. And to individual families.
