You were my hero in the '70's, standin' tall even with the Dingbat and the Meathead hangin' around your neck. Thanks for some great laughs.

I, too, loved Carol O'Connor and had the honor of serving him on numerous occasions in the restaurant business where I found him to be a true gentleman and a deep thinker (and he had politics to the left of Rob Reiner!).

BUT, I am appalled at the media making a bigger deal out of his death then that of Blues Legend John Lee Hooker who also died yesterday and was a WORLDWIDE star for over forty years, influenced generations of musicians, won Grammys and had a Star on the Walk of Fame (ten feet from O'Connors!). The local news here ran a ten minute retrospective of Archie and then showed maybe 30 seconds of The Hook and all of that was of him as a doddering old man and none of it from his prime when he was "like a hurricane" and a force to be reckonned with. Sad.....

We'll miss them both, but The Hook has written his mantra of "Boogie chillin', it's in ya and it's GOT to come out" on my heart!

Had the honor and pleasure of seeing the mighty Hook here in Phoenix at the Celebrity theatre last Feb. Even at this stage of his life he was electric. So sad. Ella, Mel, Miles, Hank, Bill E, Carmen, Frank, Sammy, Dean, Phineous, Louie, et al. Thank God for the advancement in the re-mastering of all this priceless music. Can't go around the block wif-out 'em. WW
