- Georgie - 04-06-2009 My sweetie used our Christmas gift certificate last weekend for a delightful weekend spent in Lancaster Co., PA. If you ever find yourself in the area,I suggest you stay at the Amish View Inn. It was quite lovely, with a beatiful view of an Amish farm. I think I could stare at those plowed fields forever. Some of my ancestors were farmers, so I guess it's in the blood! We bought some Mt. Hope wine to enjoy there and bring home as well. We had a great time. - winoweenie - 04-07-2009 Atta Girl Teach! Have driven thru the Amish country and agree it's a lovely area. WW - TheEngineer - 04-09-2009 Thanks for the heads up! - Thomas - 04-09-2009 I thought by the title you were telling PA to move on. Georgie, nice to see you are back to wine--when did it happen, and how did I miss it? And yes, Amish country is pastoral. - Innkeeper - 04-09-2009 Sounds great. Here's another place you might want to try: http://www.swisswoods.com/ We've stayed there a couple of times and love it. - Georgie - 04-09-2009 Foodie, I'm not really supposed to drink any alcohol because of the Hep C, but once in a great while I can have a bit. (At least that's what I tell myself. My liver might disagree!) So once every couple of months I allow myself a glass of wine or a lite beer. I really miss it, I have to admit-especially my port! I think the wine I had in PA was the first since some prosecco at Christmas. Today I used a 1/2 cup of a rather sweet red from Mt. Hope called Moonlight Encounter in a huge pot of tomato sauce. I did drink about 2 oz. on its own to see how it was. Like I said, it was rather sweet and raisiny. I liked it, but I don't dare drink any more. Oh well, such is life. - Georgie - 04-09-2009 Thanks for the tip, IK. It looks lke a lovely place, the type I always thought I'd like to run. But I think the life of an Innkeeper is not as romantic as it seems, am I right? Lititz is a charming place, isn't it! I'm rather fond of the Wilbur Chocolate factory.... The official line is to tell them not to drink at all." - Georgie - 04-10-2009 Well, I must say I like and value her opinion! Thanks for making my day! |
