On the offline trip I mentioned that a high school friend of my sister and brother-in-law has a Napa Valley winery. Here is a link to Mick Dragoo's winery only it isn't Napa Valley, it's Escondido:

Dr. Mick Dragoo attended the University of Nebraska College of Dentistry in 1968, followed by a surgery internship at the University of Nebraska. He then attended graduate school in periodontics at the University of Washington from 1970 to 1972, where he received his MSD and certificate in Periodontics.
Dr. Dragoo hold memberships in many professional organizations, among them, the Omicron Kappa Upsilon at University of Nebraska's College of Dentistry, the American Academy of Roentgenolgy, and the American Association of Orthodontics.
Since 1972, Dr. Dragoo has been involved in lecturing nationally and internationally, research, writing numerous books and clinical articles, and in his private practice. Since 1983, that private practice has been limited to periodontics and implant dentistry.

I'll bump this up so that hopefully KC will see it. By the way, Carolyn Tillie on her blog about California wines is pretty dismissive of the wines from Belle Marie with the exception of a sparkling wine she found charming (Chardonnay with raspberry essence?) The grapes are sourced from Baja, Mexico.

OK, I've seen it, but I don't get it. The site says they make both new world and old world wines. How can they do that?

Got me (shrug). I guess they are talking about new-world style wine and old-world style wine. They could use different techniques. If I get to San Diego again I may visit Belle Marie out of curiosity and to see the chateau, etc. but the wines don't sound very impressive. I wonder if Lizardbrains ever visited there?
