Got another 12.5" of the white stuff last night (official Weather Service measurement). We're now 21"+ over the normal season totals, and there's more coming Saturday and next Tuesday. This is getting real old!!!

Well we got "walloped" with another 2 to 3 inches. The difference between here and points south is that whatever we get we keep, so the snow pack is really getting up there. Our vehicle is sitting the shadow of the plow traillings in our driveway.

Actually saw a report from some dolt of an "expert" on the internet say it was all due to global warming!

IK,

That "dolt" has a point, but to understand the point you have to understand how the melting ice caps and rising sea levels create these kinds of weird weather patterns.

I could sure use some warming about now.

Each year at this time of year I wonder why I live in the Northeast.

Another day to wonder why!!!

IK,

I stupidly tried to make it to my radiation treatment this morning. Wound up having to wait over an hour for the AAA truck to come get me out of a ditch.

No road plowing (when school shuts down, so does the road crew). Coming down a decline while someone was coming up the incline. We each tried to avoid the other, but I skidded wildly, gaining control three times but losing it on the fourth break away skid.

Drove right back home--took me over an hour to make a usual 15-minutes away from the house. No treatment today.

Good grief, Foodster! We're grateful you made it home.

Glad you're okie-dokie Foodie-Pie. I can't put it in perspective but it's calling for " Rain, sometimes heavy, and may be SNOW in the valley late tonight". Taalked to a close friend in San Diego late afternoon yesserday and it was SNOWING in SD as we spoke. Global warming my wrinkled old Patootie! WW

On Thursday night the meteorologist (probably a mostly useless profession) told us we would see some snow turning to sleet and then rain with temperature highs in the upper 30s F.

What we got was 18 inches of snow and never got into the 30s at all.

But, WW, weather is not the same as climate change. Fact still is that overall temperatures have been rising. In fact, we have had record heat temperatures in the past four years in months like April (in the 80s) and May (at 90) unheard of in these parts.

We got a total of nine inches of very heavy snow and no rain. Our plow guy's truck is broken until Monday. I went out this morning in the Highlander and got as far as the street. Had to shovel through the plow shearings. On the way back I got stuck at the top of my driveway. Rested up, and went out and freed the vehicle. Hopefully we can get out for church in the morning!

I drove to Triangle area Friday afternoon with wind gusts up to 40 mph. Had to hold onto the wheel tightly. Had a nice dinner at Vin Rouge (French bistro-type restaurant in Durham) and then visited two wine shops in Raleigh on Saturday to pick up some wine I had previously ordered and make some new selections. I have found that the chain hotels (Hilton, Radisson, Marriott) in Research Triangle Park have bargain prices on the weekend because they mostly fill the rooms with business visitors doing business in RTP on weekdays and leaving for home on the weekends. I've been hearing good things about the 2009 vintage of Beaujolais Cru so bought two Fleuries, one Cote de Brouilly and one Chiroubles. Also secured two bottles of a 2008 Domaine Robert Chevillon Nuits-St.-Georges "Les Vaucrains" 1er cru.
