Now Jed Clampett has gone to that log cabin in the sky.......

- Georgie - 07-07-2003

I loved to watch Buddy dance. Ok, now, show your age...raise your hand if you know all the words to the Beverly Hillbillies theme song!

- thewoodman - 07-07-2003

Come and listen to a story 'bout a man named Jed...

- Bucko - 07-07-2003

a poor mountaineer, barely kept his family fed......

- Drew - 07-07-2003

And then one day, he was shootin' at some food

- Botafogo - 07-07-2003

and up from the ground came some bubbling crude....

Anyone remember Weird Al Yankovitch remaking the "Money for Nothing" video by Dire Straights as this song? Classic!

- Bucko - 07-08-2003

Oil that is, black gold, Texas tea.

Well the first thing you know ol' Jed's a millionaire....

- Georgie - 07-08-2003

Kinfolk said, "Jed move away from there!"

- randery - 07-08-2003

they said: "Californy is the place you ought to be" so they loaded up their truck and they moved to beverleeee...

- Innkeeper - 07-08-2003

Well, Bucko, show-off that he is, hogged the whole last verse....

- Bucko - 07-08-2003

Sooey! Piggy, piggy, piggy......

My granddad on my mom's side was a pig farmer in Okrahoma. Killed by a tornado when I was five, but I still remember him calling those hogs and slopping them down. Kinda like WW at dinner.

Have to admit I never watched that show.... too close to home. I was born in Tennessee and raised in Texas (got here as fast as I could), and jokes about "hillbillies" (or Lollywood's version thereof) always struck me as extraordinarily condescending. Buddy seemed like a good guy, though.

- Georgie - 07-08-2003

Hmmm...sure your name ain't Davy Crockett there, Hotsie? Seems to run in my mind that he was born on a mountaintop in Tennessee and ended up at the Alamo....something mighty coincidental about you two...

- Jackie - 07-08-2003

Fess Parker, my girlhood hero. Ended up running a darn good winery.

Was it...

Born on a mountaintop in Tennessee,
Greenest state in the land of the free.
