can likely feel for me after this rant.

We were scheduled to begin the new year of school last Tuesday. However, due to Frances, we lost power and had to cancel that day. As both a director and a teacher, of course I was the one who had to pass along all the bad news to parents who arrived at the school not having seen/heard our school closing announcement on the TV/radio. The kids were understandably disappointed, and the parents inconvenienced. The little preschool and kindergarten kids, especially, felt bad -- they didn't understand why they couldn't go to school, and some left the parking lot in tears. Power was supposed to be restored by 3 p.m. that day, but as you may suspect, it wasn't. It still wasn't on the next morning, either, so we had to cancel the second day, as well. Repeat performance in the morning with the kids. We were finally able to start last Thursday and all went well until today, when we lost power again after Ivan roared past Atlanta. So, for the 3rd time in the first two weeks, we had to close school.

I'm sure the implications of this are not lost on the teachers reading this. Yes, we're going to end up having to make up a few days later in the year. I just hope we don't have to take any snow days this winter!

Ugh!!! Aggrivating!!!

Sorry for you there Dan. I've talked to all of my friends in Atlanta and Dalton and have heard the same story. It's still raining this morn in Dalton. Hope the week-end bears more sunshine. WW

I'm just catching up around here. That is not a good way to start the year. Kids, especially the little guys, need routine to feel secure. Here's hoping things are going along smoothly now.
