($9.99) blend of more than a dozen red varietals, including zinfandel, syrah, cab franc, petite sirah and grenache. dark purplish/red in color. strong, deep nose of white pepper, raspberry and cherry. tastes of same, with the berries/cherry in the lead, then giving way to the white pepper, with a lavender note coming in during the solid finish, where some tannins check in. this wine is medium in weight, with an almost elegant mouthfeel. has much more to offer than you have the right to expect at this price. i'd drink it over the next 3-4 years. 88/90.

The BHR is always one of the P/Q leaders from the wild man Randall. I actually lost one of his first vintages ( 90-91 I think) in the cellar and found the orphan last year. Took it to the club for lunch and it blew everyones' mind for the 5.99 per. WW

I agree with the comments above. This is a great everyday wine for the price.

Yes!
Agree, but not strongly enough! Met with Randall Grahm yesterday at a seminar/tasting in St.Paul Minnesota. As you know,it is our obligation to build wines during his (3) plus hour visits and he actually uses some of the equations...at least in our minds! Our winning blend was 'Zig Zag' 70% Grenache(Fess Parker/Ben Nedico), 20% Syrah, 5% Mouvedre, 5% Cinsalt (Robles). All wines from his 2001 barrel samples!
So, are we blending or floundering?

I have had one of the toughest weeks at work this week. My A/C venders screwing up orders & a coil I ordered came in damaged. I made them overnite another one and it was damaged! Meanwile I have an upset customer.

I guess thats enough ranting. Anyhow, Thursday I came home and uncorked....."well, unscrewed.....just doesn't sound right", one of these wonderfull bottles. It had a great aroma when I opened it. I decanted half the bottle. After the first glass I knew I could drink the whole bottle. But I had to pick up my daughter from band practice so I couldn't get too sloshed.
What a great mix of viratles, I'll be looking for more of this.
