This is a blend of sangiovese, zinfandel, merlot, and (I think) cabernet sauvignon from California. Medium bodied (13.8% alcohol), very soft and round, and full of fruit: plums, black cherry, with an undercurrent of currant. Buy it for the mouthfeel, stay for the fruit.

Cost only $8.99, and comes in a funky bottle to boot.

This is generally good, overlooked winery. I got a sample bottle of their Sassolino last week and enjoyed it a lot. They have a nice budget chard and several Cal-Ital blends that would be credible in Tuscany.

I'll have to keep an eye out for their other offerings. BTW, is "sassolino" just a name they've given one of their wines or does it have some universal meaning?
