Went rummaging in the cellar tonight for a different red to have with leftovers - smoked brisket, potato salad, cauliflower w/cheese - and turned up this Rhone that I had purchased last May, and forgotten about. Nice surprise: black pepper and raspberries give over to black cherries; nice mouthfeel and deep red color. And the price: $7.99. Found the '95 on Robin Garr's Wine Lovers' Page, with similar notes. Only two left in the bin, so I'll definitely buy more.

Could it be from Domaine des Amouriers. Their vin de Pays de Vaucluse is a wonderful wine. The winery is in Vacqueyras & is imported to the states by Bobby Kacher.

Olin, welcome to the board.
Les Amandiers and Amouriers Vacqueyras appear to be from different houses, although the little information available on the former isn't sufficient to confirm that conclusion.
They are both produced in the Vaucluse region of the southern Rhone Valley, and they are both bargain-priced, although the importer for Amandiers is Weygandt-Metzler, rather than Kacher. Maybe one of the Rhone Rangers could shed some light on a possible relationship between the two.
