2001 Pacific Estates, Monterey, Single Vineyard (San Lucas), Cabernet Sauvignon ($8 Grove Street Brokers). This bargain cabernet weighs in at 13.5% alcohol which is low for cab these days. It gives black plums, coffee, and chocolate on the nose and upfront. Tart cherries, subdued oak and chewy tannin crossed the palate. All followed by a bell ringing finish. A lot of cabernet for the price. We had picked a case of this from Craig (for $96) for the party season at the end of last year. We finished up the last one with Cheddarburgers last night. It would be very difficult to find a better QPR in an everyday cab.
