Revisited this sweetheart last night. Specifically she was a 1997 Sonoma Creek, Sonoma County, Pinot Noir. She had been laying around since last November. She is definitely not in the same company as the RRVs that Randy expounded on up in Novice last night, but with forward fruit and perfect balance, makes another great summer hamburger wine. Had 'er with mesquite grilled Cheddarburgers and salad. Ranks right up there in quality and price with the best Cru Beaujolais. Although she might go a buck or two higher at the local state store or whatever, Pops has her at $9.83 a bottle and $110.61 per case. Could be the very best buy in an American Pinot Noir.

My note on the wine:

1997 Sonoma Creek Pinot Noir, Sonoma County, $12, 4400 cases. A very good bargain that is drinking well now. Currants and cherries on the nose as well as the palate, along with tea flavors, good acidity and soft tannins makes for a lovely wine that wine will match a host of foods.

Looks like we agree......
