What a wonderful surprise!
Dutton's been whooping about this gem forever and ya think I'd pick up a bottle? Naaaaa, but bought one today for $5.99 and the wife said, "I really like this wine...she rarely sez that. Nice medium ruby/garnet. Bright berry and dark fruit aromas jumped out of the glass. Complex flavors that mirror the scents with a slightly bitter, earthy component to the finish. Nothing overwhelming about this wine...it won't knock your socks off but for 6 bucks it has good flavors, acidity, low or no oak and complexity making a good multi-food pairing wine. 13.5% alc/vol.

Nice wine, isn't it? It's been one of our "house" wines for a few years now. It's really hard to beat the price for what you get.

Love it too, but still think it plays second fiddle to Marietta Old Vine Red. The documented support for this fantastic eveyday wine goes back to early days of this board. Check out http://www.wines.com/ubb2/Forum30/HTML/000003.html . It shows that board members have supported it from Bin 22 to 26, and one idiot said it was great from Bin 1.

Drew, I appreciate the acknowledgement.

IK, if'n I can find some, I'll try it. Where to you get yours? Does POP's carry it. Don't recall seeing any around here.

I liked their red better than their white:

2000 Cline, Oakley Vin Rouge, California, $8.50, 5,947 cases. Lush black cherry, hints of black pepper and damp earth highlight the nose and palate. A ‘big crowd’ pleaser. 85/86.

2000 Cline, Oakley Vin Gris, California, $8.50, 8,768 cases. Floral notes prevail, with peach and apricot overtones. Nice acidity and a spectrum of flavors. 82/82.
