I ran across Daniel Lawrence Syrah Alexander Valley 1996 in my local Trader Joe's yesterday. I was not previously familiar with this producer. Being an incorrigible bargain hunter, I could not pass it up. The wine is relatively simple, but a good lighter style syrah with plenty of fruit and a spicy finish. It was great with a barbecue on a late summer afternoon. The price ... $2.99. I'm going back for more today. Anyone know much about this winery?

Hi, Thewoodman, this is what Wine Spectator says about your wine.......looks like you got a great deal and should go back for more. "A solid red, with earthy beet and mineral overtones to the basic blackberry flavors. Finishes smooth and long, with bead-on fruit character. Ready now, best from 1999 to 2000. (2100 cases produced)
They gave it a 86 rating! Good find!!
