2000 Rosemount, Diamond Label, Cabernet Sauvignon ($11). There has been a debate of sorts in the media and on-line about whether this one or Columbia Crest Grand Estate Cab, at approximately the same price, is the best "Super Market" Cab. IMHO there is no competition. The Rosemount is hardly better than their first tier cab, and tastes flabby and more blabby. I know two things. First there has hardly been a big celebration about the 1999 Grand Estate (just about the same vintage). The other thing is that the Rosemount could well have been cooked. So will give it another shot someday.

Understand that the Rosemount Diamond Label Cabernet/Merlot is a far superior wine. Can't find it around here, and don't look far and wide for super market wines. We do have the cabernet/shiraz, shiraz, pinot noir, and the chardonnay. Any recommendations on these?

For a wonderful cab, you can get for another five or six bucks, the Rosemount Hill of Gold, which is leagues above the Diamond Label. In the meantime, I'll give the '99 Columbia Crest Grand Estate a shot. Hey guys and gals, it is hamburger time!

I had the Diamond label shiraz a while back. I'm a pretty big shiraz fan but I thought this one was mediocre. Not bad at all, just not super-exciting.
