Hi ... I'm looking for some suggestions for both red and white wines I can purchase(under $10 per bottle)for a June 2000 Bat Mitzvah party! Would like to purchase by the case for savings and will have to incur a corkage fee of $7.00 per bottle Food will be buffet with variety / Salmon as main course. The event is both indoor and outdoor and it could be quite warm outdoors.I realized that the wines the caterer offered were all over 16$, with many in the 20-25$ range. I'm wondering if any of them were worthy of that price and wouldn't I do better to bring in my own? Can someone also advise me on how to proportion the red /white. Will most folks choose one over the other. I've heard white is generally more poular yet all my close friends prefer reds as I do! I have easy access to Trader Joe's, Beverages and More, Costco, & Cost Plus. I've heard these are all great places to find wine steals! Thanks!!

We think it would be cost effective to go with the Baron Herzog line of wines. They are Kosher wines from California, and good enough that many gentiles including us drink them. Enjoyed a case of their Chenin Blanc a couple of summers ago, and it made a perfect summer quaffing wine. They do have a whole line so you can go with more popular whites and reds. Based on your comments would go 50/50 with white and red, and avoid rose' unless someone close to you wants it. These wines should be availble at the vendors you mentioned or they can get them quickly.
