Y'all seen a bottle of Columbia Crest Grand Estates Syrah yet? Neither have I. But while I was looking thru the Columbia Crest Website today, I noticed they've got a small entry in their Grand Estates tasting notes section devoted to a 2000 Grand Estates Syrah, (blended of 92% Syrah, 9% Grenache).

There's no direct link to it, on their page you go to the Cabernet section, read thru you'll find it after the Cab data. But here's a link to the PDF tasting notes written up by their winemaker:

"A great looking wine with intense aromas of blackberry and cocoa. This Rhone style Syrah fills the senses with strong fruit expression. The fruit becomes an ideal backdrop for the spice, cocoa and black pepper extracted during barrel aging. This rich velvety wine is a good introduction to the approachable, delicious syrahs coming from Washington state." Doug Gore, Winemaker.

I'm going to keep my eye peeled for a Grand Estates Syrah to go with their current Chard, Merlot and Cab. I really hope this one pops up on my radar soon.
