Hi I am NEW. I just want to know what wine to buy for my lobster boil. I plan to serve Sangria before dinner but what should I open for the main course? My guests are not wine experts but some wine lovers. I will have about 8- 10 Women who will probably have all drank to much before dinner even begins. Some of us have a strong preferance to dry reds and some like white zin. We usualy go to Paw Paw MICH. for the wine fest on this weekend but I was too late and I did not get my reservations in time. My husband will be off to a football game and I can't wait to sit in the hot tub with a big fire by the lake, a glass of wine and the women I love most.

Hi Bpotts and welcome to the Wine Board. IMHO the best wine to go with lobster, and I just got back from eating many, is Sauvignon Blanc. They are making some excellent ones at bargain prices coming from South Africa these days. Going up the ladder look for those from New Zealand, and Sancerre from the Lorie Valley in France.

I blow hot and cold on the Sauvignon Blanc, although some really like it. I always prefer a nice young crisp bone dry Chardonnay with seafood.

I second IK's Sauvignon Blanc suggestion.

I like the ones from Sancerre due to its "smokiness" and "steely" acidity whichs works well for me with seafood. (others perhaps find it a bit austere). Oterh SV's work very well as well.

I love the interplay of a good bubbly with the butter and sweetness of the lobster. Course it's the only SW I consistantly drink. WW

When we were out at KC's, I believe we had a Vouvray that matched very nicely. KC?

Yes, indeed, and when Ann and Dileep come out the end of October,we'll have the same with lobsters then, too.
