Hadn't tried this since '01 and needed an earthy red to accompany BBQ'd chicken leftovers, mashers, green beans and ranch-style beans (brought home from nephew's Saturday wedding 100 miles to the east). A cellar orphan and half-expected it to be dead; on first opening, it seemed that way, but poured and let stand for an hour. Still subdued on the nose, but opened on the palate with bright red fruit on a soft forest floor. Nice mouthfeel giving way to a moderate finish. Wish I had more. It's from old vines (VV), non-filtered so a bit cloudy; 13.5% alc/vol and probably paid about $8.
