2000 Domaine Benazeth, Minervois ($10 Blue Hill Wine Shop). Imported by T. Edward Wines, Ltd, New York; and distributed locally by tiny Devenish Distributors, Ellsworth, ME. 13% Alcohol. Great value made from a bunch of grapes (not more that 40% carignan and a 60% blend of grenache, lladoner pelut(!), syrah, and mourvedre) in the Languedoc. Gives you a blast of black raspberries and other black fruits on the nose and upfront. Very ripe additional fruit, spice, and pepper cross the palate with chewy tannin. Nice finish. Matched nicely with locally made French sausage made with wine and herbs braised in red wine, and salad with blue cheese dressing. Great food wine; look for it.
