Hey guys... opened up one of these babies tonight and it was quite an experience! Tasted young and somewhat closed upon first impression... though indicating its potential, then a half hour later was totaly awesome... but within an hour after that was tasting thin and dying at the bottom of the glass. Anyone else have a similar experience with this wine? I don't know... but could it be I just had palate fatige? At first it seemed youthful... then at the top of it's game... and then as if it was about to be D.O.A at the bottom of the bottle. What gives?

The 98s are closed up tighter than a drum right now. I'm sure that is waht you are experiencing.

Thanks Bucko... I'm usually the last person to open up a bottle too young, but hey... thought I would give it a try.

The 95s have came out of their shell and are starting to drink well.

I've been experiencing the same with most of my French 98's also.

I have one 97 VT. Drink or hold, what's the consensus? I'm thinking drink for this vintage.

Yeah, 97 was not a great vintage. It is probably ready.
