- dananne - 04-10-2006 Here's the full name: Cuvee Champ du Roy Vin de Pays Cotes de Brian The "Champ du Roy" name is from their 3.7 acre plot of Viognier. This is a blend of it, along with Grenache Blanc, Marsanne, and Muscat. Actually, this tastes almost exactly as you'd expect from the blend -- the Marsanne body, the perfume of the Viognier, and the touch of floral/fruity sweetness on the back end from the Muscat. Some of it went into a risotto recipe, and the rest went down the hatch. Tastes better well chilled, otherwise there is a touch of heat on the end. 13.5% alc. Paid about $8 locally. - brappy - 04-11-2006 I like your description from each grape; would you say the wine is a sweet wine in general or no? From your description it sounds like a great porch wine but if it's too sweet........ mark - dananne - 04-11-2006 No, it's dry. The Muscat gives a light fruitiness to the end, but it isn't sweet by any measure. - brappy - 04-11-2006 Thanks Dananne, I'll have to look for this. My wife and I often sit on the front porch with friends and taste/quaff wine. This one sounds about right. And the season for this is upon us. mark |
