2001 Domaine Lou Peyrilhe, Picpoul de Pinet, Coteaux du Languedoc ($10 Is-Wine). If ever a wine was made for lobster, this is it. Made from 100% piquepoul grown within sight of the Med, the crisp acidity with a hint of spice marries perfectly with homard de mare. Have churned our way through the better part of a half case of it with various preparations of lobster in the last two weeks. The best was with the seemingly simple lobster roll, a true gift from God.

The Picpoul also works very well as an aperitif, thank you. Am sure it will work with other shellfish as well. But, hey, it's lobster season!

I wish it was lobster season on my end of the country!
Great wine, works well for cooking mussels and crab as well.
