1998 Domaine des Jougla, Saint Chinian ($10.00 Is-Wine). As good a value as Rosemount Estate Grenache-Shiraz with carignan, mourvedre and cinsault thrown in. Dark fruit on the nose and tongue tip, typical Southern French earthy complexity with semi-tammed tannin across the palate, and a pleasant finish. Enjoyed it thoroughly with a summer deli platter of cold cuts, prepared salads, and rolls.

You said it IK. Goes back to the discussion on another forum, when Hotwine talked about the bargains coming from the parts of the rest of the world as opposed to most of the West Coast.

Did you also pick up the Gaillac we sell? If Scoop sold to you you must have done so.

Got two of 'em. Only one got more than one of. Will report on as soon as consumed.

Where do you find these jewels? I wish that more came my way. I am a rabid fan of S. France wines, especially the CdPs and Languedocs. This is another area of the world producing terrific value wines.

Bucko, I get them from a distributor in NY that specializes in French obscurity products. They have wonderful Minervois, Chinian, Gaillac, Grean, Provence, even Languedoc products, plus some palate catchers from the Loire, Jura, and all points not in Bordeaux or Burgundy (although they have them too).

For some strange reason, however, they can neither get me Bergerac nor Mercurey!!!

Sure do wish we could buy from Foodie's shop. I join Bucko in the rabies dept.
