After all of the rants about the barrel-oak-woodski tasting plomk in his tasting regimum along with raves about the wonders of insipid SWs' that were barely discernable from 2 day old Chinese bivouc bathing water I finally found a post from herr Buck-Snort that had a semblance of intrigue. With a tad of trepidation and an excess of cash at the time I ordered a box. Blushingly, I must report this is one kick-patootie of a bottle. 1999 McCrea Boushey Grande Cote Vineyard Syrah. The essence of the Syrah grape. Deep ruby, with a real sense of terrior. Every berry (blue&black) you can recall. Lovely background of spices, a tad of smoked meat and a 4&1/2 lapper killer finish. 93/91. Still needs 1-3 to round out the smooth tannins left. Tankee ole " Leather-Tongue ". I'll send a box of Franzia white zin as soon as it goes on sale.WW

Glad you like the McCrea. I think that he does a dandy job with his wines.

I can hardly wait for the Franzia.

BTW, it is "Even a blind hog finds an acorn once in a while."
