$17 at PJ Wines. Not my week for trying new wines. My first Bandol Rosé ever, Bandol is fast becoming my favorite appellation for red wine so I was looking forward to trying this one. Nice enough nose, disappointing on the palate, it did not have the length or the round, palate-covering yoghurty feel I enjoy in Provence rosés. I will stick to mainstream Provence rosés for a lot less money for now.

Is this wine like either end of the spectrum of Provencal roses? We find a polarization of Prov roses, either heavy like a Tavel or very light like an Oasis d'Provence (and others). We have uses for both, Tavel with Indian, Thai, etc. and the Oasis with shellfish, cheese fondue, etc. I like to have a case of each for the winter season when these wines aren't available. Is this Bandol a style that falls near one end or in between these two or is it outside this range?

I found it rather light, but I also did not enjoy it as much as any good Provence rose I've had. I will have to try another bottle of bandol rose, but it will not be the same winemaker.
