2001 Terre Rouge, Les Cotes De L'Oest, California, Syrah ($15). According to the Eastons the grapes for this wine came from an area just west (L'oest) of the Amador APA, in sandy loamy hills (cotes). Tend to accept that, as this is not a generic California Syrah. It offered blackberry jam spiced with cinnamon and cloves on the nose and upfront. This was followed by pepper and more spice, in the complexity that crossed our palates with smooth tannins' and a two and half alarm finish.

Matched with thinly sliced smoked pork in a very spicy pork BBQ sauce, and mixed salad with OO & white wine vinegar dressing. The wine hung in there between the two. This is a terrific California Syrah in between the $10 (Pepperwood Grove) price point, and the much more common $20+ point.

How does it work with lamb? Just fine. Matched with broiled loin chops and salad. Simply splendid!

Only reasons we're still on our own thread are: 1. We had it again tonight with roasted lamb rack, baby Yukon Golds, and asparagus. Wonderful. 2. It is included in a 12 (all different) pack from Easton/Terre Rouge for $175 available until Oct 31. This is a saving of $63. I've ordered it.

Enjoyed the one out of the twelve pack last night with lamb loin chops and salad.

I figured with 11 more bottles you might seek the "Cal Ripkin" record for most continuous posts without replys so I'm takin you off the lineup IK with my post. BTW, the syrah sounds wonderful...none around here though.

Have no fear Drew. The case in reference is the mixed one. Have no more of this nice one at this point. Sigh.

Ik
You always posts wines that sound interesting and are professionally described. Unfortunately I can rarely find them locally; hence my lack of response.
