1998 Domaine Guy Sauvanes, Faugeres (AOC), Cuvee Sarah ($5.99 Wine Expo). Roberto recommended this one to balance out my price point with a Brunello he peddled to us. Faugeres, if you are not familiar, is a more or less equal blend of syrah, grenache, and carignan. It comes from the Languedoc.

It starts out floral on the nose, most unusual for a red. This translates into ripe red fruit upfront. Spicy earthiness and smooth tannin transit the palate, and all ends in a happy finish. Matched it with mesquite grilled cheddarburgers. Very, very nice.
