1999 Pagor, California, Syrah ($12.99 WineExpro). This is not a petite sirah, which I love; nor a shiraz from Oz, which I love; nor is it a syrah from either the Northern or Southern Rhone, which I love. You see, it is a California Syrah, and I am a Rhone Ranger. Stop quibbling people, and enjoy!!!!!!!

This nice offering from Pagor, who tends to do things right, is a great value. It gives you black fruits on the nose and upfront. It delivers spicy and peppery full body and smooth tannin across the palate, and finishes nicely. Not as clear as I would like a wine to be, but well worth more than those costing four to six dollars more. It matched fine with grillpanned loin lamb chops and salad. Give it a try.

With an additional four months in the rack, popped the second one last night. It was lovely with super thick broiled lamb chops, eggplant salad, and corn on the cob. Someone had to do it. Heh, heh.
