Dark purplish-red, opaque. I could swear I smelled detergent, but maybe I'd just washed my hands. Seems to be a scent of Earth & vegetables -- definitely smells "green." Chalk that up to its youth. Fruit forward with cherry notes. Soft and round in the front of the mouth. A little bite at the end, which increased into more aggressive tannins after being open for a couple of hours. Very different style from the other St. Chinian I posted on the other day (the Canet Valette). This one isn't as complex and exciting, but it's also younger, and it's still a good value for 7 euros. 13%.

Thanks WOW I appreciate the encouragement. Still trying to learn to single out the tastes ... at this point I'm still doing a little guessing on that front. The odors are much easier to identify, I find. In any case, I'm having a blast learning it all.
