1998 Domaine du Pesquier, Cotes du Rhone. Picked this up on the stop at Is-Wine last May, on one of Scoop's many suggestions. Can't seem to find my receipt, but the grey matter seems to think it was around ten bucks. Very nice wine, and a fantastic value. Offers itself up with peppery black fruit, cherries, currents, et al. The same greets the tongue tip. Typical Rhone earthiness across the palate with silky tannins. A very pleasant finish. It stood up smartly with a very heavy dish that had me thinking Crozes Hermitage, but didn't have one ready. It was grilled lamb steak marinated in mint, lemon, and OO. Wonderful!

Glad you enjoyed it, IK. It's a solid, well-made crowd pleaser.

Cheers,
