2000 Tobin James, Silver Reserve, Paso Robles, Syrah ($28 but came in the fall '02 shipment). Alcohol level 13.8%.

Wonderful bottle of wine. Gave red and black currents and a little pepper on the nose and upfront. More complex gobs of black and red fruit, spice, herbs, and Paso dirt across the palate. A lingering finish followed. Matched it with broiled lambburgers with rolls and salad in blue cheese dressing. Great way to spend Shrove Tuesday.

'01 Tonight. It came in the Spring '04 shipment, and weighed in at $38 and 15.1% alcohol! Having said that; this is the best wine we've had in several weeks. IMHO it is perfect right now. If you still have it; drink it!

It gave great gobs of black and red fruit upfront and on the nose. It was rich and thick with pepper and spice, along with a very big dose of Paso dirt in the complexity across the palate. I can still taste the finish. Simply wonderful in every sense of the word.

Matched it with the same lamburgers, along with roasted pieces of red potatoes, and salad win raspberry/hazelnut vinaigrette dressing. Excellante!

The next night we had the other half bottle with loin end teriyaki. The wine didn't lose a thing in the fridge overnight. Still can't get over how great it was.
