Please forgive me for posting this again but D-mn......this is a good wine!
1998 Chateau De La Negly,Coteaux Du Languedoc
Nice dark Rhone with pronounced milk chocolate notes mixed with ripe plum and dark fruit and can be found in this area for a measly $10.

Let's just hope that the area never "catches on" and spirals up in price. Many good values are to be found.

I'll second that, Bucko d'Oc! I hate to even mention 'em, for fear of calling too much attention to that bargain basement.

I third the sentiment, but I know we are all dreaming. For instance, one of the great wine bargain regions of the world--Puglia--is now starting its price rises. Just the other day a distributor tried to persuade me to carry a Salice Salentino that would retail for $30. Luckily, for me, the wine he opened to sample was corky--I had an excuse to say "domani."

Just a matter of time when D'oc goes up!

In light of the 2000 Dm. Catherine Le Goeuil, cuvee Lea FELSCH,Cairanne, Cotes du Rhone Villages, I popped another Negly tonight. This one has really softened...almost flabby. I hope this is bottle variation and not over the hill. The Catherine Le Gieuil is a better wine IMHO with this comparision.

Pulled another last night and boy is it singing! Beautiful sweet fruit with that Rhone funkiness and milk chocolate. Linguring finish with some grainy tannins.

If anyone happens to know, I'd be interested to know what the breakdown of grapes is for this wine. Thanks.

I ran it through the ol' Google-r, and if I found the right one it's 60% Syrah, 35% Grenache, 5% Mourvedre. I'm sure one of the Wine Gurus would be able to confirm or deny this, though.
