- Thraz - 02-13-2005 I finally tried this ($28, purchased in January 05) to satisfy my curiosity. KC Whippet said in another thread that this wine goes to sleep for years before it shines again. That was probably dead-on. The wine was good - just that, not bad, not great, a little thin in fact, both on the nose and on the palate. Not at all the big wine I was hoping for. I read somewhere else that the 2001 is very good, but needs to age for ten years. Unfortunately I do not have the palate to appreciate this. I tried this bottle in spite of the warnings because at this price I do not want to buy a case blindly - but I am also unable to see the glory behind the mantle. This is probably a typical conandrum for wine drinkers like me (amateur level), but not one I know how to break so I think I will refrain from getting a case. - hotwine - 02-13-2005 Sounds like a good decision, Thraz. Trust your own palate. - TheEngineer - 02-13-2005 Thanks. I'll put mine into long term storage now! I'm curious too but will heed your your notes. |
