Welcome to the board, Polo. We address that issue all the time on this board, both by answering specific questions on what wines pair well with what foods, and by posting our tasting notes (TNs) on specific wines (which frequently include descriptions of the menus/recipes with which the wines were paired). The search function of this board is very useful in doing that kind of research.

For a couple of books - try "Great Wines Made Simple" and "Wine for Dummies". There are many others, even some devoted to specific wine-producing regions of the world, if your tastes lean toward a specific cooking style. But you would be hard-pressed to find another source of information on the subject that is extensive as the collective experience represented by this board. We encourage you to visit and participate often.

The author of the first book hotwine recommended is Andrea Immer. She has an even better book on the subject called: "Great Tates Made Simple." You can find it in a lot of places including the store on this site.
