From the Saar tributary of the Mosel.
This is one of the bottles I found in DC. It was $11.99 per bottle and only 7.5% alcohol by volume. Heinz Wagner is the producer in Saarburg, Germany. Imported by Rice in Virginia Beach, VA.
Has the distinctive Riesling bouquet--this time mostly floral fragrances with a slight lemony note--not the peaches or apricots you sometimes get with a spatlese Riesling. A delightful wine. Acid in balance. Not a particularly long finish but a pleasant aftertaste. Very food friendly. Had it with chicken florentine the first night and with a simple pasta primavera the second night.
The Saar vineyards are at such a northern latitude that sometimes they aren't able to produce a spatlese wine with residual sugar but when they do--look out! They can be spectacular!

Sounds great; will look for it.
