(Mosel) library release, $30

After posting my year-end notes earler, I decided I had to open up something a little special!

This is an incredible bargain. Stored at the winery until fairly recently, and priced very fairly...

pure light golden color, with a bit of time the nose leaps out of the glass. Very floral to me, with honeysuckle and gardenia dominating. (other tasters disagreed about the gardenia... oh well!) Very balanced wine with good acidity and a big but light body, and totally exquisite. minerals and floral notes in the mouth, a little bit of vanilla and dried fig and orange going on, but very little fruit and no sweetness... beautiful juicy muskiness floats over the whole thing, without seeming oxidized.

Overall a beautiful wine that highlights what old riesling can do at a very good price.

My only regret is that I didn't wait until the first day of spring... Maybe they have more at the store!

A gift to me on the occasion of my 19th anniversary of going vegetarian!
