For a great summer sipper, try the Paul Blanck 1998 Pinot Blanc D'Alsace ($8.99). Pale straw in color, it has an apple pie and citrus nose that is replicated on the palate. Dry, with good acidity, medium body, deceptively high alcohol (13%) and a nice citrusy finish. Simple, yet delicious. It was superb with a fava bean salad that was dressed with a lemon-garlic vinegarette.

Happy 4th!

Cheers,
