- Oenophile420 - 03-07-2001 my best friend and i thought it would be a good idea to have a sparkling wine tasting birthday party/dinner this saturday. i figured we could have wines from several countries from varying price ranges and sweetnesses. its sort of short notice but i like the challenge. although i'm not necessarily looking for specifc wine suggestions (i'm treating this as a good way to utlilize champagne that i've just collected without any special purpose in mind.) i was planning on about 8 people, no more. bread, cheese, and fruit for the sweeter champagne and a (hopefully) well matched dinner. has anyone hosted a wine tasting party at home? i've never done it at home before. i know i have everything needed more or less. i was going to have 3 bottles of champagne with 3 bottles of sparkling wine. i have the right number of people, but should i have more/less wine? should i push my guests using the receptacles so everyone doesn't get blitzed? or should i just let everyone go for it since its my b-day? they probably won't spit and i can't blame them.. any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.. tara |
