I was given a bottle of 88 Comte A. de Dampierre as a gift. I know 88 was a good year. Does any one know what this bottle is worth? Thanks

Welcome to the board.

Excuse me, but why do you care about its worth, if it was a gift?

A Website that lists retail prices for some wines, in both the States and the U.K,, is wine-searcher.com.

Hi thank you for your response. I received it several years ago and was wondering if I should drink it or keep it. Infortunately, the bottle doesn't have any sentiments to me as most other gifts given to me. Hope things are well in Texas, my home state.

We're all just kinda wet right now. That's OK, we're still grateful for every drop.

The wine: If it has been stored properly, I'd keep it, maybe a few more years. But if storage has been less than ideal, then the sooner it is consumed, the better. And it could already be too late.

the wine: lucky me since I escaped the texas heat to a nice climate I think the champagne should be good (hopefully)

texas: hope it doesnt get too bad. I hate the floods there. Are you in the wine business in Helotes?

Hi gh and welcome to the board. Hotsies' major venue in life is making sure the wine shops in Heloites stay OPEN. Iff'n he had the front door key, the sucker would be gone in 30 days (or less) WW

No, I'm mostly retired. Have some business and ranching interests in South Texas. Do my best to help the area wine merchants pay their bills.

Well I only hope there's some heavy wine drinkers/connoisseurs in Helotes! Are there many wine shops in Helotes? What's a good one in San Antonio out of curiosity?

No, there are none in the immediate area. I drive 20 miles or so to visit the best for selection - Joe Saglimbeni's Fine Wines - and for price - Wines Best Buy. They're across the street from each other, north central part of S.A. There are others, of course, but it's possible to cover all the bases with just those two.
