Had two bottles of this with appetizers at our Christmas dinner last night. This was the wine that Roberto sold me for my brother's wedding last autumn. Such a beautiful Champagne! Lovely, light fruit flavors -- lemon and tart apple -- with a pleasant yeasty note on the nose and palate. I don't like Champagnes that have overpowering yeasty notes. This is not one of those Champagnes. All the flavors, in fact, are just beautifully integrated on the palate. The wine is mostly Chardonnay.

I'm glad I still have six more bottles!

Were your brother's frinds a bunch of Pootie Poppers?

I think IK, that young hipster, is asking if your brother's friends were party poopers to not finish the Champagne at the wedding. All the better for you.

Oh, gotcha. Well actually YES, the guests at the wedding didn't drink nearly as much as I intended, so I had quite a bit of wine to bring back to Roberto. But the extra Champagne, I kept that !!! And I'm glad I did, not only because it's good stuff, but for sentimental reasons as well.

Incidentally, if I hadn't already posted about this, Roberto was kind enough to use the credit from the returned wine to give me Italian wine "lessons" -- he sent me three bottles of wine from a specific region of Italy once every few months, and included some information about the wines and the region. (Hence my post about Valtellina) It really increased my familiarity with the regions that I dabbled in. Thanks again Roberto!
