A recommendation for a moderately priced wine to serve with lamb shanks (with a brown gravy) is needed.

There are many syrah and syrah-mourvedre blends coming from the south of France that sell for about $10. Look for one of them for the lamb.

How about a nice Australian Shiraz? 98 vintage if you can find some.
