I have not yet made the purchase of varietal specific rioja/tempranillo glasses. In fact, my local wine store advised against it and suggested just using my syrah/shiraz or bordeaux/cab glasses. I've been trying both, but now that I've gotten some better rioja wines (such as Marques de Murrita Castello Ygay Gran Reserva Especial 1989, etc.), I'd really like to be drinking out of the best glasses for it. Any suggestions, or should I splurge for the varietal specific glasses? Thanks in advance.

In my humble opinion, your Cab/Bordeaux glasses should be just fine.......
