I had a glass of this (and a glass of an uninteresting "traditional" Sangria) at La Tasca restaurant in downtown DC at lunch on Labor Day.

The charge was $9.25 for this by the glass and $35 for a bottle. Notes described it as deep, rich and powerful wine with abundant red and black fruits, vanilla and spices and dry. it was very dark red, nearly opaque with a long finish that was a bit astringent. I was not captivated by it.

The Arrocal is a nice wine with a few years on it. I have some 04's and 05's that I won't touch until after 2010 sometime.

Yes, perhaps it was a bit young and primary.

Well I popped an '05 last night at Jeff's house and while I do believe that this wine has the potential to develop into something really good it was, as WOW described it, very astringent. And we coaxed this monster for several hours and it only slowly showed some of its stuff. Won't thouch another for 5+.
