- dananne - 04-25-2004 I've been picking up several vintages of both the Numanthia and Termes lines from Numanthia, and I finally had to pop a cork. Just couldn't wait any more. Spash decanted and let sit for 30 before pouring. Deep cherry red turning to purple in color. The nose was black cherry, blackberry, and a touch of smoke. Very concentrated in the mouth with tannins winding through all elements. The fruit follows the nose, and some smoke and leather elements join in on the finish. A little nip of vanilla, too. Somewhat warm on the finish earlier in the evening, it seemed to tone down the longer it sat in the decanter. 14.5% alc. 30 year old, ungrafted Tinta de Toro vines. I paid about $21 for it locally. I'll keep my paws off the others for 5 years. I'm looking forward to trying their "step-up" Numanthia. We finished off the night with bubbles -- a Gruet Brut Blanc de Noirs. Just a wonderful, fun sparkler from NM. We love Gruet, and always have several bottles on hand for opening "whenever." - chittychattykathy - 04-25-2004 Gruet rocks!
