From the Calatayud region, Viña Alarba, 1999 Old Vine Grenache: fresh, jammy, luscious raisins, slightly spicy. At $7.00, what a deal!

Just picked up a couple of bottles of this, cooked up some beef and popped one of 'em open. Spicy, nice nose, raspberry, bread dough, raisens. Those who like Cotes du Rhone need to be looking for this one. 50 year old vines give the grenache/garnacha some serious depth. Priced right!

FWIW, I just saw a shelf-talker saying that Parker is giving this an 88 rating.

Get in line, Parker...the Foodie/Zenda grenache-guzzling consortium has already spoken!
