2003 Seigneurs de Bergerac, Bergerac Sec ($9 Blue Hill Wine Shop). Sauvignon Blanc (50%), Semillon (40%), and Muscat (10%); alcohol 12%. Wow! This was our first '03 from France, and we guess they really had a hot summer. Do we believe the 12%?; hell no. This as huge white wine that we have ever had! Gives a blast of fruit so powerful, that it was difficult to single out the various nuances. There was some litchi in there buried amongst the abundant overripe pear and other fruits upfront and on the tongue tip. Bergerac sun and terroir contributed to the complexity across the palate, but any minerality was overcome. All ended with a delightful finish.

Matched with broiled sea scallops, and salad in blue cheese dressing. Marvelous.
