I'm throwing my wife a surprise birthday party. There is going to be alot of people from work there (my boss included) and I want to pick the right wine for this occasion. There is going to be a large vanilla cake, chicken and sandwiches. Which kind of sandwiches I'm not sure of yet. How I'm going to cook this chicken is another story entirely.I'm lucky I can pour my own cereal. Please help!

Welcome to the board, Chader. Chicken almost always calls for a white wine; and a white wine that pairs with the widest range of chicken dishes is Sauvignon Blanc. Just about any will do. Kendall-Jackson from Calif. is cheap (about $8), while a nice Sancerre from France is the best of that grape in my opinion, and will run about $18. Kim Crawford from New Zealand is OK but too grapefruity for my taste; it runs about $12. Take your pick, and good luck.

I'm no expert at preparing chicken but be sure it is cooked enough so the insides are not bloody (on the other hand you don't want it overcooked and tough). Consult a good cook for advice or maybe consider using a rotisserie chicken pre-cooked at a local shop or a caterer.
